FARM GIRL JUNK, CARVER REKINDLED COMPANY, CARVER REKINDLED COMPANY, CARVER AMOUR CRU, SHAKOPEE SPARE ROOM, NORTHFIELD
Four new shops will help us welcome spring this weekend. Farm Girl Junk took over the lower level of 300 N. Broadway in Carver two months ago and have made it light and cheerful with furniture, feed bag purses, frames, dishes, and lots of assorted home and garden decor. At 208 Broadway, Rekindled Company just opened their doors today. The bright and welcoming space offers an attractive mix of vintage finds (from the former Not So Shabby vendor) and artwork created right there by a talented painter. All stores in Carver are open Fri 10-5 and Sat 10-4.
Amour Cru also opened today at 120 East 1st Avenue in downtown Shakopee. There were many finely repainted pieces of furniture with a French flair plus some rustic pieces for cabin or garden. Hours are Th-Fri 9-7, Sat 9-6 and Sun 11-4. Contact is 952-445-6685. (FYI – they’re next to the bakery).
Northfield is home to an occasional shop which opened this winter called SPARE ROOM. The shop in the lower level of 310 Division St. has old stone walls, a high ceiling, and chandeliers and repurposed light fixtures. Goods include handsome vintage dressers, tables, smartly reupholstered and plain wooden chairs, and many accessories. The cohesive arrangement reflects the owner’s design style. You’ll find SPARE ROOM Underground Shoppe by heading down the alley to the river side. Open Fri-Sun 10-6. Contact via info@spareroomunderground.com or 507-301-3019.
Happy Saling!

Picket Fence Gals, Lindstrom Picket Fence Gals Picket Fence Gals Hidden Treasures, North Branch
Treat yourself, your mom or grandma to a day of discoveries in communities northeast of the Twin Cities. The best place to start is in Lindstrom at Picket Fence Gals. They’ve been around for a few years and know how to host a fun, efficient sale. The original house has expanded to provide more room for refinished furniture, dishes, decor, porch, fabric – everything from cottage cozy to city chic. The large corner yard is filled with garden pots, patio furniture and decor, even a “hen nest.” Picket Fence Gals located at 13075 Lake Blvd. (which is Hwy. 8 – east of 35W) is open this Fri-Sat 9-6 and Sun 11-5 (with most items 10% off on Sundays).
Further north is Hidden Treasures located at 6943 St. Croix Trail (Hwy 95) in North Branch which has housewares, antiques, handmade crafts, and estate finds nicely displayed on two floors. Hours are Fri-Sat 10-6, Sun 12-5.
[Not vintage, but occasional, is this weekend’s St. Croix Valley Pottery Tour. Go to minnesotapotters.com for a map of participating potters’ studios.]
A quick drive from 52nd to 46th on Bloomington Avenue South in Minneapolis yielded these images of what is in store for you. There’s lots of European elegance as usual, with lovely furniture and paintings (old at Urban and new at Amour) plus the unexpected. The trunk of a car might tickle your decorating fancy. Yellow, at that. The Urban backyard will be open with colorful live plants too. Both stores are open Thurs-Sun. See This Month’s Sales for addresses, hours and details. Happy Saling!
Apron Chicks Apron Chicks
The Apron Chicks open their sale at 4 PM today at Bergmann’s Greenhouse & Garden Center, east of Manning Avenue just north of Hwy. 36. You’ll find furniture, garden stuff, and interesting accessories and decor which have been re-purposed or restored. Hours are Wed 4-7 and Thu-Sat 10-6. The address is 12239 62nd St. N., Stillwater 55082. The Apron Chicks only hold a few sales a year so they really can be called occasional; this also means only a few chances to check them out. So happy saling!
Garden Party Gallery, Hopkins Chloe’s Attic, Hamel The Cottage Door, Buffalo The Marina, Buffalo Patina General, Buffalo
This weekend promises sunshine for all who want to hit the sales. There are stores to visit along the way in Hopkins and Hamel if you’re heading west to the occasional sale mecca of Buffalo. The Garden Party Gallery has a patio with some fun outdoor pieces besides two stories of repurposed and refinished items in the cute yellow house. Open Fri-Sat 10-6 and Sun 12-5 at 1213 Mainstreet in Downtown Hopkins. Chloe’s Attic offers beautifully painted and refurbished dressers and buffets as well as some furniture still with original wood finishes along with other decor items. The combination of gleaming wood with a chenille seat strikes a nice note on the vintage chair pictured. Hours are Fri-Sat 10-7 and Sun 9-5 at 155 Hamel Rd (one block south of Hwy 55) in Hamel.
There are so many stores in downtown Buffalo that they have produced a map showing Occasional Sales, stores open daily, and those open every weekend. The photos are fairly representative of what you’ll find in vintage, garden, and giftware at just three of the occasional sales. Hours are 9-5 Fri-Sat and 12-5 Sun.
