The shops of Buffalo continue to offer a wide selection of fun, clever, and beautiful things for you, your friends, and your home. Furniture that’s been refinished or reupholstered is the starting point with mirrors, signs, and art adding to the decor choices. You’ll find candles, dishes, scarves, jewelry, and more. Each shop is unique with its own character and charm, but all are welcoming with fresh, clean, and attractive displays. On Soo Lane, you’ll find Second Hand Rose and This & That. In downtown there is a cluster of shops facing Central Avenue (Hwy. 25) and the large parking lot behind which is accessed from 1st Ave. NE. Some of these are The Porch & Atelier, The Cottage Door, and Jute Twine & Burlap. All the shops are open Thursday through Saturday from 9 to 5 and Sunday from 12 to 4. Some have slightly longer hours.
On Central Avenue, you’ll also find refreshments. Try deli Loaf & Ladle for soup and a sandwich or Evelyn’s Wine Bar for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and light fare.
Hamel is just a block off Hwy. 55 as you head west from Minneapolis. If you’ve never visited Hamel, you’ll be in for a pleasant surprise. On most weekends three or four shops filled with vintage and artisan-made goods will be open. Two favorites started out on a one-weekend-a-month basis. Now they are open more frequently offering the same variety and quality in repurposed, handmade, and creative furnishings and clothing. Check out Chloe’s Attic and Twisted Root on Hamel Road. Happy saling!
