The weekend begins Wednesday morning, noon and afternoon in the South Minneapolis shops. The one-weekend-a-month concept continues to bring shoppers who line up outside waiting for a chance to see what’s new. Urban Cottage welcomed a throng of regulars at noon and the till was soon busy. Special attention is given this month to young collectors one of whom collects vintage electric fans. Items for garden, entertaining, and decorating your home or apartment plus jewelry both vintage and newly handcrafted were abundant. Urban Cottage is located at 5157 Bloomington Avenue South, Flamingos Divine Finds is at 3404 Cedar and the Cottage House is at 4304 Chicago. All are open today through Sunday. Flea markets and village sales during recent trips to France and Tunisia have provided lots of pottery, signs, linens, and more to add interest and charm to your home. The occasional shops in South Minneapolis open today for a great weekend of shopping. You can start the morning at Flamingos Divine Finds at 10:00 before heading down to Urban Cottage at noon, then stop at the Cottage House at 1:00. Or pick your favorite and begin there.
All the photos above will show that Urban Cottage at 5157 Bloomington Ave. S. has its usual complement of showy mirrors, frames, and curved-leg furniture this month, but there’s also a nod to Dad with ties, tools, and more masculine finds. The outdoor space is packed with garden decor and patio furniture to bring your yard to life. The sparkle comes with 4th of July entertaining ideas as well as glamourous jewelry and accessories for the ladies. If you enjoy a petite, delicious donut or two, plan your visit on Saturday between 10 and 2 when Mike’s Minis will be offering donuts and coffee out front. Belle Junque Brings French Flair to St. Paul
Another occasional shop has opened in St. Paul. Near St. Kate’s in Highland Park, it’s an easy location to find even though the old signs are still hanging on the building which is also home to Ristorante Luci. The shop is light and airy with lovely French country tables with wood finishes or lightly painted. The accessories include vintage pieces and a few new linens and fixtures all with a French motif. Paint is for sale for the do-it-yourself crowd or take something home ready to be used tout de suite! Belle Junque is located at 474 Cleveland Ave. S. and will be open this weekend Thursday 10-8, Fri-Sat 10-5, and Sunday 12-4. Vintage Market in Hamel





It’s a perfect day for an outdoor vintage fair! The Middle Sister from St. Paul and Twisted Root in Hamel have joined many antique and specialty vendors including Chloe’s Attic which organized the event. There are also two food trucks to sweeten the shopping. The fair is located in downtown Hamel, one block south of Hwy. 55 at Hamel Road, with a huge city parking lot. Happy saling!
