Other handcrafted items are signs for the cabin or garden, pillows and decorations with a country vibe made from old quilts, and repurposed jewelry with Minnesota themes.
Not far away in Rosemount, A Cat and The Fiddle A Fair is offering discounts today and Saturday before they close the current location at 3005 Lower 147th St. W. and prepare to move two blocks north. The stylish painted chair is just one sale item marked way down.
Stores in Carver open today and Saturday include The Good Junk Garage with a great collection of metal junk, The Carver Junk Co. filled with big furniture and small signs, and Studio H with pillows, hand sewn bags, and assorted refinished furniture. Vintage Marketplace at 302 Oak Street in Farmington will be open until 8 PM today. The store is decorated for the holiday weekend with lots of red, white and blue including items for home, cabin, and garden. Hours continue through Sunday.

Flowering plants, urns, and furniture for your garden, patio or porch are waiting at Laurie’s Trunk at 9066 Lyndale Ave. S. in Bloomington. Going south of the river, you will find quaint downtown shops starting in Shakopee. How Quaint at 714 First Ave. East (Hwy. 101) looks like a normal stucco home until you notice all the exceptional garden decor in the yard – including a vintage truck! Inside is a vast array of vintage, primitive, and antique furniture, kitchenware, paintings, architectural pieces, and accessories displayed on three floors. The vendors are friendly and very helpful even when it means loading a bulky item into your car in the rain! How Quaint is open today 9-6, Sat. 9-5 and Sunday 11-4. Happy saling!
Downtown Shops, North
Quaint and thriving towns await you on the north side of westbound I-94. Historic buildings are admired in Osseo as evidenced by the rustic, primitive and authentic pieces at Antique Alley. There is a mix of cupboards, tables, dishes, paintings, garden and farm accessories. Some items have been repurposed like the silver creamers on stakes or a turquoise hamper, but many are cool, old pieces with rich patinas. Antique Alley at 218 Central in downtown Osseo is open today through Sunday. A little farther north is the bustling city of Anoka where you’ll find the French Flea at 211 Main St. As you can surmise from the name, the Flea has furniture and accessories with a decidedly French feel – lots of cream, white, gray, and black with accents of fleurs-de-lys. Meet the Urban Moon Shop in St. Paul
It’s fun to introduce a new occasional shop. Urban Moon opened today at 1048 Selby Ave. (east of Lexington) and will be open the second and fourth weekends of each month. Hours are Thursday-Friday noon to 5 and Sat-Sunday 10-5. The shop has a mix of vintage, chalk-painted, and wicker furniture plus dishes, pillows, mirrors, handmade cards, linens, and lots of flowers and plants. Stop by this weekend to celebrate. This Weekend Starts Today
It’s convenient that three shops in South Minneapolis open Wednesday starting in the late morning. All were ready for the outdoor garden and patio season with furniture, accessories and plants for sale. The fragrance of lilacs in The Urban Cottage’s backyard was amazing. Inside at Urban were classic, subdued pieces with lots of style plus vintage jewelry, pearls, mirrors, frames and handcrafted bags, belts, and greeting cards. Urban Cottage is open through Sunday at 52nd and Bloomington Ave. S. To the north, Flamingos Divine Finds at 3404 Cedar Ave. S. has a vibrant assortment of furniture, decor, and vintage clothing – something for every taste. Flamingos is open Wed-Sun 10-6 daily. To the west, The Cottage House at 4304 Chicago Ave. S. has expanded to two buildings filled with various styles of furniture and home decor from rustic to shabby chic as well as a roomful of sassy t-shirts. The Cottage House is open through Sunday as well. April in Paris is the theme at Haupt Antiek Market in Apple Valley this month. Many items reflected that theme in an elegant, subtle way with fabrics, dishes, and decor. There were also other vintage pieces plus clever signs and garden furnishings. Haupt is open Fri-Sun on West 147th just west of Cedar Avenue.
