Happy 4th! Shopping is optional.

The shops of Buffalo will be open this holiday weekend as well as Junket Tossed and Found in South Minneapolis. We’d like to check out a couple new stores in the west suburbs so we can report back, but it IS a holiday. With the holiday on Thursday, you may want to look at each website or facebook page before you go to a specific store. Monthly list will be ready for July next week for sure. Hope you enjoy the week!

Vintage wares will make 4th of July picnics sparkle

A visit to Your Lucky Day this morning provided lots of ideas for our 4th of July celebration. Baskets (like this one in my photo) come complete with plates, glasses, tablecloth and napkins – all vintage, of course. I snagged a super red and white tablecloth which will look great with my blue and white dishes. Some of the baskets would make a sweet wedding gift, anniversary present or hostess gift. There’s lots more – furniture, games, pyrex and milk glass, just to name a few. Also attractive planters to use in the garden or on a buffet table or kitchen window sill. I’m ready to celebrate the 4th!

Wreath from Crowned Cottage

This wreath has brought a bright, spring look to my front door for two months. The birds thought it looked just perfect, too – for their home!
Crowned Cottage and Old Hotel Market are both open this weekend on Main Street in Elko New Market. Check “This Month’s Sales” for more information on these and other sales

Vintage Market on the Farm (near Lanesboro, MN) June 13-15

The Pfarkel Sisters are holding their 5th Annual Vintage Market on the Farm just northeast of Fountain, MN next weekend. The fun begins on Thursday at 4 PM with Special Event Shopping which includes live music, refreshments, and, of course, shopping. Tickets for Thursday can be purchased for $25 at the gate or $20 in advance at 507.250.1690 or s.fjerda@yahoo.com or at GETFRESH Vintage in Lanesboro. More shopping on Friday 9-6 and Saturday 9-4 plus a Farmer’s Market and a presentation “25 Ways to Bring Vintage Home” with Sue Whitney on Friday afternoon.
It’s about 2 hours’ drive from Minneapolis through beautiful, rolling country. This market may be the perfect reason to gather a few friends for a girls’ outing!

Vintage wares + plants = charming

Here are a couple of my finds from Your Lucky Day! I love the creativity of mixing old kitchen tools and enamel pans with herbs and flowers. Both planters are charming yet practical. The pot of herbs includes a colander for drainage – and plenty of future uses. The blue tool box is complete with holes for drainage, but could still function in other ways later too. Can you tell I love enamelware? The double boiler is in mint condition and perfect for the cabin. And the little harmonica? I didn’t know I wanted one until I saw this cutie. Ah, the fun of shopping occasional sales…. IMG_2852

It could be Your Lucky Day!

Tomorrow is the big reveal for Your Lucky Day in south Minneapolis. I’ve shared a couple preview photos, but my photography doesn’t do justice to what you’ll find: quaint, mid century, nostalgia galore in sweet vignettes plus darling planters for your porch or front stoop. The owners have thought of everything. They even rented space next to a great neighborhood coffee shop with homemade baked goods, soups, and sandwiches. Hope to see you this weekend at 42nd and Grand Avenue South! Thu-Sat 10-7, Sun 10-6.
