Some of our favorite vintage shops and dealers are joining together this weekend at Bachman’s flagship store at 6010 Lyndale Avenue South in Minneapolis for A Gathering of Friends. They’re calling it an antique market because you’ll find some truly special antiques. But it is so much more with industrials, primitives, cottage, lodge, European, repurposed and up cycled goods. The indoor market will be open Thursday and Friday from 9 – 8, Saturday from 9 to 6, and Sunday from 10 to 3. Free admission and free parking make it worth going once, twice, or daily. And there’s Patrick’s Cafe for a beverage, snack or meal not to mention all Bachman’s plants and flowers for sale or to just enjoy. Happy saling!

Several shops scattered across South Minneapolis are open this weekend. Beginning on Friday, you can start on Minnehaha Avenue at E’s Emporium and then work your way westward. Refinished furniture is a specialty at Amour Sophie with dining tables, side tables, dressers, and desks mostly in soft neutral colors. You’ll also find lots of frames, mirrors and artwork plus small decor items. The hand lotions are worth testing too. Amour Sophie is located at 3002 East 50th St. (that’s between Hiawatha Ave. and Lake Nokomis and south of Minnehaha Pkwy). The shop is open Friday and Saturday from 11 to 6.

After a stop at The Cottage House’s bonus sale Friday-Sunday from 10-5 at 4304 Chicago, make a beeline to Your Lucky Day’s spring cleaning sale. This is the first in-store sale of 2016 since moving their shop on-line! It’s described as an old-fashioned rummage sale, but with these two retailers running the show, you can expect a curated and tidy affair. It will certainly be well worth a visit with dishes, books, craft supplies, jewelry, and so so much more. Your Lucky Day is at 4159 Grand Ave. South next to Royal Grounds Coffee. Hours are Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 5. Happy saling!

This week two new stores opened. A Rare Bird at 50th and Xerxes in southwest Minneapolis has hatched a new space just two doors away. Within the modest exterior at 3012 West 50th Street lies an 11 by 17 foot shop furnished with elegant antiques, gold framed mirrors, original paintings, console tables, and upholstered vintage seating with a cozy yet refined ambiance. A Rare Bird 2’s owner will be rotating between the two shops ensuring that you can visit both. For the next few weeks at least, the shops will be open daily from 11 to 5 (and 12 to 5 on Sunday). For more information, check Facebook or phone 612-707-0514.
A little farther west in St. Louis Park, the Mama’s Happy crew moved their entire inventory from one location to another Sunday evening! Although the sign was waiting to be hung, the new location at 5630 West 36th Street was open and ready for customers today. The space is bright with high ceilings and shows off the refreshed furniture and wall decor. It is also larger than the Excelsior Blvd. store and offers a separate space for painting classes and parking in back as well as at the front door. Hours are Monday to Saturday 10 to 6 and Sunday from noon to 5.
While these shops are open every day, (no longer occasional), they both feature vintage goods and got their start as occasional shops so we want you to know about these expanding local businesses. Happy saling!
