There is a hint of fall in the air and also in the shops this weekend in Chaska and Carver. Linda’s Cellar at 110 E. 2nd St. in Chaska has stocked metal buckets with cut out pumpkin faces and added mums and fall decor to the mix of antiques and vintage goods this month. Ms. Mac’s newly enlarged space in Carver is packed with architectural pieces from farms, churches and vintage homes. Old advertising signs, school lockers, antique cabinets, farmhouse tables and vintage toys are just some of the fun furniture and decor items you’ll find. Farm Girl Junk has an amazing assortment of newly crafted signs and pillows featuring themes and sayings about Minnesota, fishing, The Lake, and more which will make you smile or chuckle. They also have furniture, lamps and housewares for home, cabin, or dorm. There’s plenty of metal (industrial and farm) pieces plus paintings and prints, doors and screens at The Good Junk Garage. Next door in the Carver Florist’s building is a small collection of vintage furniture, photos, sweet clothes and more at Stages. All in all, the interesting selection of goods you’ll find in Carver County’s shops will give you a very pleasant shopping experience this weekend. Happy saling!

Buffalo Buzzing
A visit to Buffalo is so affirming for all of us who love the occasional sale concept. In the early years people lined up for a block outside Second Hand Rose once a month when SHR was the only occasional shop in town. This weekend the streets, sidewalks, and a dozen shops will be buzzing with happy shoppers. The fun begins on Thursday at 9 AM. Times vary slightly from store to store, but most are open from 9 to 5 Thursday through Saturday and midmorning to late afternoon on Sunday. SHR and next door neighbor This & That, Now & Then have a sprawling area on Soo Lane (just south of Hwy. 55) which includes spacious outdoor display space. The other shops are located in downtown Buffalo on Central, First, and Division Streets. You’ll find a wide range of vintage styles for your home, garden, or cabin.

Vintage UK
Antiques and vintage goods are everywhere in the UK. Two popular areas to shop in London are at Camden Passage in Islington and Portobello Road in Notting Hill. Both areas feature brick and mortar shops as well as street vendors such as the two pictured here. China and silver are still extremely popular items on offer. Finding a shop with chalk-painted furniture and European antiques felt more familiar.
And who can resist a charming tea room?
