Part of your day in the southwest suburbs this weekend should include stops in Chaska and Carver. Linda’s Cellar at 110 East 2nd St. in Chaska (just east of Cty. 41 and north of the bridge) is filled with lots of interesting items including an old Ford pickup turned into a trailer, a metal crib perfect for your garden, and a little shed for storing or selling antiques. You’ll see other garden pieces, wicker, dressers, wood, and metal – and they have boothsful of goods at Junk Bonanza too! The shop is open Thursday 10 to 5, Friday-Saturday 10 to 4, and Sunday noon to 4.
A couple of miles west, you’ll find the shops of Carver. These are six vintage shops clustered in the historic downtown district. Each shop has its own specialties; all are worth a look especially if you’re hunting for furniture. The Good Junk Garage was open for a preview today with tons (pun intended) of metal pieces from turbines to industrial cabinets to assorted agricultural parts. The shop also features wooden tables, chests, and doors plus stained and leaded glass windows. The outdoor “yard” is a treasure trove of large metal odds and ends. The shops of Carver are open Thursday 10 to 5, Friday and Saturday 10 to 4. Check with individual stores to verify Sunday hours or assume 12 to 3. Coffee and light fare at Cup of Carver and Chaska Dunn Bros.
Happy saling!
