Perfect Strolling at the Carver~Chaska Sales

The weather couldn’t be better for visiting the various occasional shops in Carver this weekend. With the wedding of the ultimate occasional saler now history, I could enjoy an afternoon of shopping for home and garden decor. It was with anticipation that I headed west. I can report that all is well in this hotbed of shops. I was pleased to find several treasures at The Nature of It like blue and white bone plates, fifties pottery planters in subtle, muted colors, and cute chair cushions for the cabin. The Vintage Cottage was well stocked with lovely English tea cups, linens, and beautiful antiques.

A short drive to Chaska brought me to Shop 501 which is bigger and better than ever! Today, Saturday, they are hosting a large outdoor market as well as their indoor offerings. (A hint for first-timers is to go past the storefront at 501 Chestnut Street and circle around to the parking lot in back). A few blocks south, you’ll find Linda’s Cellar and Southern Charmed on East 2nd St. More goodies await.

I respond to the charming old buildings and gazebos of both Carver and downtown Chaska, don’t you? On a day like this, you might want to pack a picnic lunch. I know I saw picnic baskets and lunch boxes at one of the shops…..
